Wireless G to Wireless N
My dad just bought a Wireless N router to upgrade our Wireless G. It was slow at first, but it seems to be going faster. I still have my Wireless G USB Adapter for my computer.
My question, would it be considerably faster if i got a PCI Wireless N Adapter?

Re: Wireless G to Wireless N
Yes... With an N card, you could get upto 300Mps connection (although your computer has to sit right in front of the router). That's 3x faster than the standard 100Mps wired connection.
Let us have faith that right makes might, and in that faith, let us, to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it.

Re: Wireless G to Wireless N
but 1/3 as fast as gigabit ethernet.
Also keep in mind that while wireless-n isn't as bad as a g-router is about this, but the slowest connection slows the entire router down. An "n" router switches back and forth between N and G, whereas a G router if switched into "b" mode stays there.
Make sure if you buy the n card, you get one from the same brand. There are tons of incompatibilites with wireless n. I have a USB adapter and it doesn't work with power management unless i plug it into a slow port. Standby mode breaks the internet.
Also make sure the version of "N" he has matches your version of "N". There are a couple of flavors thanks to the standard still being worked on. My adapter is supposedly flashable to the new standard but i have yet to see any programs available on dlink's website for it.
