Canon EOS 450D Live View
Maybe "Live View" has more of a use than I imagined. You can send the output via the (video composite) jack to a capture card to record video. The camera's LCD screen is disabled in this mode, so presumably it won't cook. Add a mains adapter (already purchased) and you don't have to keep changing batteries.
Of more use, as far as I'm concerned, is to set it up so I can monitor and snap wildlife (stills) by radio remote control (where I won't spook it).
I would never, of course, use this to secretly record police brutality and their other illegal activities, or video people driving while using their mobile phones, then sell the footage to the press, or point it into a neighbour's bedroom window, mainly because I don't have a long enough mains extension lead.

Get an IP camera. You can get wifi ones, or wired "power over ethernet".

Re: Canon EOS 450D Live View
I can imagine someone using a 450D on live view as a security camera, and then it would get nicked

It's not easy to get school buses to do wheelies like that. Maybe if you put a whole lot of kids in the very back with all their backpacks and everything you could.
By the way did you know you can get 2 or more pictures to display in one post without the links if you use attach tags. You put the attachment id which appears in the URL between Attach like below. Si_The_Geek just taught me that.

Leave the space out just in front of the number. If I do that here you won't see the code. It only works for posts of your own so I can't demonstrate it with your attachments in your thread.

Make as many mistakes as you can as quickly as you can. We want to make sure that we make a great enough number of mistakes in a given amount of time so that we can be successful.

Make the fat kid go to the back else you 'll steal his lunch.

Or lace their victuals with depleted uranium, thereby creating semi-intelligent, self-propelled ballast.

An excellent tip. In true VBF style I'll rate both you and Si... wait a minute... I can't rate either of you for helping me in CC without Martin chastising me. Still, you've given me the opportunity to make the pics visible to anyone who looks accidentally, thereby introducing eyestrain to a wider audience. Many thanks .
