    Post [2005] Version control

    Heya guys,

I'm having about 30 .net projects on 8 different (virtual) machines. And I'm getting mad of all old versions sometimes left one some machines. I'm really looking for a version control system. Do you guys have anny recomendations? I've heard a lot of good things about SubVersion, but I'm really more of a commercially aimed person, so I've rather learn/use a product that also used in corporated environments. I've heard few bad things about Visial Source safe.

Ergo, what do you guys use?

We have just switched from VSS to SVN here in my office. We're still getting used to it but seems pretty good so far.

SVN is awesome. It's used in many commercial environments by very large companies and works rather well. I've used VSS, TFS and SVN. So far I like TFS and SVN the best though TFS has some very odd bugs. While TFS works rather well; some of the bugs I've run into makes it hard for me to recommend it until the 2010 version comes out (which should be immensely better).

I was in a similar position as you. I needed a version control system and I've tried many (perforce, vss, tfs, svn, and a few other small ones). While none of them provide all of the features and ease of use I was looking for; SVN seemed to be the most reliable.

We are still using VSS and it meets our needs.
