Resolved [RESOLVED] Clicking GO in IE Opens Firefox!

I'm having a weird occurrence with Internet Explorer 6

I am trying to test out the differences of some sites with different browsers.
However, whenever I paste a URL in the IE address bar and click GO (or press return) IE goes to my homepage and the URL opens in Firefox!

I've done the usual malware checks and nothing obvious came up.

Maybe its a feature of some legitimate program that I forgot about?

Its quite difficult to search for as well as the keywords are too common to narrow the results down!

Anyone seen anything like this before?

It sounds like you have got some kind of BHO (Browser Helper Object), and I suspect that it is the "opposite" of the Fx addon IEView (and may actually be shown in Fx addons).

To find out which BHO's you've got, run HijackThis.

Once you've found out what it is, it will hopefully be easy to work out how to correct the behaviour.

I initially thought it was some sort of BHO myself too
However, removing the fix mentioned in the page linked by vbcode1980 worked great
    Code:
    remove the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{c90250f3-4d7d-4991-9b69-a5c5bc1c2ae6} registry key

Just creating an empty key with that name seems to do it

Save this as KB048584.reg or something and convince your friend to click on it
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{c90250f3-4d7d-4991-9b69-a5c5bc1c2ae6}]
Or maybe it will get used as Guerilla tactics to raise the usage stats of Firefox up the rankings

yes. In the install screen "would you like to install google toolbar" "would you like to steal all links from IE?"
