    Horrible, nightmarish packetloss

    Network Layout:

    [LAPTOP] ---> wifi ---> [ROUTER] ---> cable ---> [SERVER]

    Symptoms:
    - SSH'ing into the server from the laptop is very laggy.
    - Server pings Router 10 times per second, packet loss is 0%.
    - Laptop pings Router 10 times per second, packet loss is about 20%.

    The laptop states that WIFI signal strength is 92%.

    Routing tables look fine, using correct devices etc.

    I have negligible networking knowledge, can someone give me some advice about how to alleviate this dreadful lag?
    I don't live here any more.

    Does the package loss occur if you use a cable to connect your laptop to the router instead of going wireless? If it does, I'd double check the router configurations. If not, I'd try to switch the wireless to a different channel that does not get as much interference from the surrounding environment and see if it makes any difference.

    is this a new problem? did you change anything recently? what kind of wifi? the wrong mix of wireless phones and wifi can be problematic.
