    Package msdxm.ocx with software?

    Can I legally package the msdxm.ocx 823KB ActiveX controller with my software? It is the Windows Media "Classic" player.

    After testing on several computers, I think I'll be OK without including it, WMP9 that comes with XP works fine with it, as do older win98 versions and one computer had the newest WMP and it worked okay.

    According to the link, legally you should be including the entire WMP package so when the user installs your app it also installs WMP if not present. Remember that just because it could be XP or Vista doesnt mean they have selected the optional accessory wmp to install.
