[RESOLVED] FireFox3 bookmark problem.

Anyone here use FF3? I just downloaded and I lost all of my bookmarks (I still have the html file containing them from the app data folder, but when I put it back in there it doesn't read it.

Would post on their site but I can't. The image verification for posting a topic doesn't show.

it kept my bookmarks. If it's a site i have bookmarked, it has a star next to it in the address combo box.

I wouldnt be surprised if it's some sort of bug though. an older version (2.0.0.7 i think) would randomly erase my bookmarks. I had to (gulp) use IE until they fixed it.

No probs here ... All of my bookmarks are still intact.

The bookmarks should have been imported over without issue. You can try closing the browser and deleting the file called places.sqlite from the profile directory. Make sure the original bookmarks.html file is also in the same directory and named that.

Now, restart Firefox and leave it alone for a few minutes as it sometimes takes a while to rebuild the sqlite file if you've got a lot of bookmarks

Also is it possible to switch to the old url auto complete. I hate the new one so badly.

I type in vb to bring up vbforums.com but nope it has to find every other vB forum i visit instead of vbforums.

It seems to be using settings from a year ago, could it be using the wrong profile? How do I check which profile I am currently on?

At the moment there is no way to revert the autocomplete system but it is adaptive and takes time to "learn" your choices. The more you use it the better it should learn how to select the results based upon each term that you use.

Do a Ctrl+Shift+B, do you see your old bookmarks in there?

well i can't wait for that to start working properly. I am actually annoyed about that part of firefox2. The usercp.php link is always at the BOTTOM of the list instead of the top, and i visit it much more often. Hopefully the new one sorts by visits.

I jsut set mine as a bookmark in my toolbar.... no typing....

yes that was my workaround before but i eventually filled that toolbar up with other important links. I use it like a post-it note.

I hear that. I have to go through mine every couple of months and either re-arrange them, or delete some of them. my VBF Bookmarks folder only barely fits on my monitor... I get any more in there and it's going to start scrolling.
