[2005] my Apps run in FireFox realy fast compared to the slowness of IE 6.0

Hi guys,

I run few applications (asp. 2.0) on IE6.0 with XP, lot of my apps are really slow. Although I checked my code and asked an experienced programmer colleague, my code seems not bad.

But we I run the same applications in FireFox, I get the speed of the light, I mean really fast. Any explanation about that pls?

My FF version is: 2.0.0.13

I believe Firefox's script execution and page rendering speeds are superior to IE's.

What exactly is your page doing? Are they heavy in client side scripting? Do they have a heavy ViewState / ControlState? What is the complexity of the controls? Is the page heavy in images and/or CSS?

The way I understand it is Safari has the fastest rendering engine out of all of the web browsers but Opera has the fastest JavaScript execution with Firefox falling behind but still ahead of IE. Have you tried these apps in Opera or Safari?

I have few Tabcontainers, GridViews, DropDown list, and css style file. My pages are very very basic and normal, nothing magic.

What do u use to mesure the performance, and to check what might be the cause of alow performance. s there any tool?

Hmmm, really hard to tell. Can you isolate the slow-ness to a specific functionality? If you can, then some code relevant to that would help us look at it too. I know you've had an experienced programmer look at it, but what's to say we're not as experienced as he is?

hgahahaha, I didn t mean u, I was comparing the experienced programmer to myself (m junior). It s true u re not as experience as he is, u re more experienced, u re the GURRU, heheheh

Actually, if I were to tell you the amount of experience I have, you'd look at me very, very differently... so I don't usually mention it.
