I would really like to create a game like Prince of Persia, but I don't know where to start.

I would really like it if someone could give me some help
I really don't wish to use DX, but I will if I have to.

It would be great if someone could create a simple example for me if you have some spare time.

    Thankyou

First of all, in wich area have you the most skills, if you haven't already learned the API, I would suggest DirectX because it's really faster. It's not that hard to learn or understand.

For a game like prince of persia, is like a side scrolling, you'll need some tools, like a tilemap editor for building the levels. I know one that use directx and c++, but for VB...

I'm currently making a game with DirectX and Visual C++, also I'm building a tool with VB and DirectX that is almost done.

I don't have any examples that woul help you, but you can go in the graphic and multimedia section of this site for game builded with API.

And for some sample made with VB DirectX, check in the DirectX7 SDK, it's free to download from the MicroSoft Web site, but it's huge 128MB. If you have a slow connection e-mail me and I will send you only the samples and the file needed to compile them.

If you have any question e-mail me, and I will try to help you.

    Good Luck

Use DirectX, because it's pretty easy to learn in VB (actually easier than GDI in some ways). You don't need the full 128mb SDK, just get the docs, which are about 5mb.
See http://www.redrival.com/voodoovb/ for good DX tutorials
    and good luck
