[RESOLVED] BSOD after installing VB6
I thought i had resolved this problem, please take a look at my other thread.
http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.php?t=507689
After completing my install of VB6 and restarting my laptop. XP wont boot, i can get into safe mode thats how i was able to turn off autoreboot. It comes up with a BSOD saying:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Im gonna try resetting the CMOS again for now, but has anyone else had this problem.
EDIT: Resetting CMOS doesn't work this time

I've got that many times. But it is usually due to a hardware problem rather than any software problem; or a problem related to drivers.
Have you tried uninstalling the VB6 in safe mode and see if that BSOD goes away?
Also try the system file checker utility which will reinstall any windows files that might have got corrupted.
This command:
SFC /SCANNOW

Re: BSOD after installing VB6
I am able to use last known good config, so i looked for any errors with any devices, windows update ran and installed an update.
I dont think its a hardware problem because i haven't had the bsod, until i installed vb6.
I'll try the SFC/SCANNOW command now

Re: BSOD after installing VB6
sfc /scannow wont work in safemode, my laptop booted windows in normal mode without my wireless usb pen plugged in. Plugged it in and checked for errors again on device manager, there arn't any. I can't use last known good config now either and the blue screens seem to happen quicker.
I'm gonna uninstall vb now
by the way this all started when i installed microsoft vm for java, is it required or i tried to unsinstall it and theyre was an erorr, im cant boot safemode with networking so i cant update it
my problem now seems to be intermittent, it justed booted normally with my wireless usb pen plugged in.

Re: BSOD after installing VB6
Try this:
1. Click Start and then Run.
2. In the run box, type MSCONFIG and click OK. This will launch the MSConfig program.
3. Go to Startup tab and remove all things that you do not require or you suspect can cause problem.
4. Go to Services tab and Disable all services that you do not require or you suspect might be causing problems.
(Better still just "Hide All Microsoft Services", and then click "Disable All". If it fixes the problem, after reboot you may enable them one by one to see which one was the culprit.)
5. Reboot.
