I think Clinton was showing real emotions in that video...

She's showing fear of losing - because she believes she will be the best for the country.

If they were real emotions, it makes one wonder how she will perform as president under stress?

I don't think her belief that she will be the best for country has anything to do with the emotion (She would want to win even if she thought one of the other candidates would be better.. But who isn't like that?).

She only has herself to blame. Riding on Bill Clinton's back and cheaply trying to turn voters against the other democrats is stupid. Plus you rarely hear her side of things. She's too busy attacking other people.

At about 1:10 into that video the stopped the choked up act cold - what a manipulative fake political player

She went immediately into the who's ready speech - it makes me sick to watch that garbage.

And I'm scared to death of how many people will believe that...

Sorry, but if your going to be dealing with other world leaders in negotiations you're going to need to be able to put on a poker face and mask emotions. Hows it going to look when she breaks down crying at the G8 because Putin just won't listen to her*. Unless of course, the emotion is an act for the camera, which is equally disturbing.

Women are heading into the Obama camp.

Hillary's machine - with all the $$'s invested - will do anything to get those voters.

Pay no attention to that woman behind the curtain...

But if she can't handle the pressure of a campaign how in the heck is she going to handle the stress of being president. If these were fake tears and emotions (which I do believe BTW) then she should immediately fire the adviser(s) who suggested it. It made her look weak and vulnerable, two qualities you don't want to see in the next president.

I don't care if she grows a beard and body-slams polar bears as a backtrack to her public crying today.

Either way - I'm voting for Romney.

If they are fake, I certainly agree that the advice was terrible. I'm a lousy judge, so I don't trust my opinion.

The point I was trying to make was that in the past, some very strong leaders handled stress by crying. I know perfectly capable people who do now, some of them are even very masculine men, which is highly unusual in this society. My point is that basically this bias where crying = weak is a relatively recent, cultural bias, which doesn't hold any particular truth.

Crying because you are sending thousands of men to die... yes, acceptable, infact laudable.

Crying because you can't stand the stress of travelling around staying in 5 star hotels and speaking for an hour each night.... not acceptable, infact laughable.

Re: Clinton Gets Emotional on Campaign Trail

I expect McCaine to win tomorrow (is that with an e or without, I guess I'll find out eventually), at which point Romney will have lost both ends of the Republican spectrum, and will be sorely pressed to figure out where he can win.

On the other hand, I don't expect any major candidate to drop out ahead of Super Tuesday, or whatever it is being called now, so if you are in one of those states, you will get to vote for pretty much anybody. I'm in a tiny state that votes late. The extent of my influence is right here. On the plus side, I can always vote for the eventual nominee, since there won't be any question by then.

Doesn't matter if Romney loses New Hampshire to McCain - McCain doesn't have a snowball chance in hell in getting nominated nationally.

Yes, Super Tuesday will show who the winners will be.

Right now, CNN is comparing Clinton's crying to Howard Dean's macaw impersonation.

I agree, but these types of emotions need to be done behind closed doors not on national television. With the state of affairs in the world today, we need to show those who would do us harm that we are resolute and strong in the face of adversity.

I agree, but I still think it was an act to show that she has a "soft side" and to woo some of the female voters who have defected to Obama.

McCain actually seems to be the most likely to get good support in most states. The south is gonna hate Romney and Guiliani (not the right religions).

And how far can Huckabee take that bass playing?

Bass tournaments are big in the south.

Man, I can't keep my mind off fish. Why couldn't this stupid language just add an e when bass should be pronounced base?

Unfortunately, some of our enemies see public displays of emotions as a weakness. They many think that this weakness will cause us to be hesitant to act against them if they attack us.

I would say that the history of female heads of state ought to make them think twice. There haven't been all that many, but so many of them were ready to take the gloves off right from the start.

Yep, she was the one who convinced George Bush Sr to deploy the US army to Kuwait to drive back the Iraqi army.

When ever I heard her speak she always used measured tones. She never seemed to get too excited. A very classy woman! She never had to shriek like Shillary.

To be dreadfully pedantic, Thatcher was never head of state, but head of government.

Definitely agree with the 'tough' assessment though.

Now the general consensus was that it was this one moment that gave her the win in NH. I find the rationale convincing, though I don't know if a rationale has anything to do with the truth.

I think most prognosticators feel this way is likely because she drew a lot more support from woman than she did in Iowa. They feel that her crying did a lot in the way to garner sympathy from woman voters who could relate.

Yeah, but I note that they all said that after the fact. We're a whole lot better at predicting what DID happen, rather than what will. On the other hand, I did hear a few predictors talking about eating alot of crow, so at least some of them were chagrined by it.

I think Bill is, haven't you seen him bite his lower lip when he is trying to look emotional. Shillary doesn't have an emotional bone in her whole body, so she is unable to pull it off.

I remember him biting his lower lip. I don't think it beats the Ron Brown funeral, though.
