I just read an articles on CNN about a guy trying to legally change his name to .com.. Talk about dorky..The funny thing is is this quote from him...
"Say I meet a girl, for instance, and I don't get her number. That could have been a missed opportunity, but now it won't be because she'll always know where to find me," said .com.
I dont think someone with the name .com will meet many women.. LOL
I just thought this was funny

***? What, he thinks he is going to have an email address like [email protected]?
Man, we should've reserved the whole .com domain to people who actually had an incorporated company. 'Course, then we would just have something like .res and he would've changed his name to .res.
There used to be a day when people nick named technology after people. They called the telephone the Don Ameche. Now you look at neon signs on the side of the street and it says "BobBrothersPaint.com".
I know I'm going off on a tangent, but I think that 1-800-Flowers.com should get an award for having the dumbest name.

Web enthusiast changes name to '.com'
April 11, 2001
Web posted at: 1:56 PM EDT (1756 GMT)
JERUSALEM -- First there was the Artist Formerly Known As Prince. Now, there is tomer.com, the computer programmer formerly known as Tomer Krrissi.
Friends simply call him ".com."
The Israeli Interior Ministry initially balked at his application, claiming a name couldn't include punctuation marks, the 25-year-old man told the daily Maariv newspaper. But after studying the law, he found there was no such provision and officials backed down.
The newspaper illustrated his story with a photograph of his new Israeli passport, with the entry ".COM (KRRISSI)," under "family name."
"People who don't use the Internet think what I have done is just a gimmick, but the Internet changed my life. It opened up my head," he said.
"I think the idea is simply more functional. I see surnames, which have meaning as archeological artifacts, and I wanted to give mine some significance for myself in the year 2001," he told Reuters by telephone Tuesday.
"Say I meet a girl, for instance, and I don't get her number. That could have been a missed opportunity, but now it won't be because she'll always know where to find me," said .com.
.com, from Ramat Gan in central Israel, said he was a recovering Internet addict who at one time spent about 12 hours a day on the Web.

Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.
