    Hi All,
Here's the situation. I have to read barcodes from a scanner and insert them into a flat file.
The latter part is no problem, but how do I read data from a COM Port?
The program will be written in VB, and has to be unattended as one user might be doing something else on the PC as another will be scanning barcodes.

If anyone has any ideas, or even material for research as I didn't find much on the web...

    Thanks,
    F

With Microsoft's Comm Control (mscomm32.ocx) you're able to read data sent by a serial port.

    Hope this helps.
Code that I author is neither elegant nor efficient. It is, however, functional. Once I get something that works, I'm generally satisfied with myself - I mean, if it works, that's good enough, right?
