    [Serious] Work organised social events

Okay guys, serious suggestions only please.
I'm on the social committee at my work and we need ideas. The average staff member is in the 30s-40s and married with kids. We cannot do regular drinking nights (as the director won't authorise it).

    Anyone think of anything?

Already thought of that (but they'll probably be too fat & lazy to do it)

Comedy Club? Thats what most people do here. That way you can be lazy, drink if you want to, don't drink if you don't want to.

Mind you, most of my co-workers are 100% up for getting wasted so we usually go out to dinner and then hit up the bars.

Why not just do the token Golf Outting? No point reinventing the wheel.

Hunt them for sport. It's a great team building exercise.

Bowling, Go-Karting, horse racing (as long as you don't have people with gambling problems!), a meal, ...

Re: [Serious] Work organised social events

Here in America, we play golf. I'm not "old enough for that" either (24 still), but it's safe and avaliable to all ages. Plus, it tends to draw some of the more senior people of your company to the event, and gives you an opportunity to rub elbows in a casual atmosphere over a few drinks.

So you can bounce around in the kiddy play pen and go paintballing with the floor manager of the mailroom. Maybe serve McDonald's and hire some clowns that make cute shapes out of balloons..

Or you can have a more relaxed, gentlemen's (and women's) afternoon.

Lucky people aren't lucky, they make luck.

I think crptcblade's suggestion is the best out of the lot. Gives them fresh air and exercise, and also some lucky people will have their problem gone in a matter of minutes.

Problem is golf is simply too boring.
    The current thinking is:

    • Murder Mystery Meal
    • Quad Biking
    • Lee Evans Live
    • White Water Rafting
    • Pool Tournament
    • Go Karting
    • Ice Karting
    • Pub Crawl/Treasure Hunt

I have no idea. Was that the name mentioned in the video? I have a hard time picking up names from youtube videos. But if it was, he was awsomely halarious.

Oh I bet you're a barrel of laughs
Social evenings are meant to be....well, SOCIAL! Not for career progression.

Besides, the managers rarely go to social evenings, it's mostly the staff who want to socialise.
