I know that some people on these forums have lost some posts a while back. Off the top of my head, I remember that denniswrenn has lost about 30 posts on his post counter. I know others lost posts, but I forget who.
If you ask me, I think that these people who did lose posts due to forum errors(sorry administrator), should have their posts given back to their post counters.
I would like those people who lost posts to respond in here giving their thoughts.

Don't think John can do much about to raise your post counts since he doesn't know what everyone's post count is.
Just think of those posts as the useless ones you posted .
Plus, if you want to really raise your post count, help people out. It'll make you feel good that you helped someone and it will have raised your post count as well .

Well ...
Good advice, Matthew. I say John can give me my old post count back (about 130 posts lost) only if he can reclaim the lost posts. There is no need to artificially set the post count to what it was before I lost the posts.

I would love to go through all 17000 members and reinstate posts, but it is not really practical. I am still investigating the problem, and I do not know what has caused it. I may have to resort to looking at one of our backups to find out what has happened.
John
PS - I do sympathise, I lost 300 posts

Weird, I don't think I've lost any posts.
Or at least, not that I can recall.
And as I was going to say, can John actually raise post counts?
If he could, I don't think he'd go through everybody and raise their post counts, well..if he can, John, I lied about waht I said about not losing any, I lost about 700 .

Monday Morning Lunatic
John...looking at a backup of this beast of a forum must take quite a while...
And surely you can kick off some of the 17,000 members that have 0 posts?

I think we've mourned the loss of those posts for long enough already. They had happy lives, now we need to move on people! Life goes on, all we can do is celebrate their memory.

Actually nearly all of my posts were helping people and were not useless, thankyou very much. I work all day writing VB code and don't always feel much like doing it for some one else as well. Frankly i don't really care what my post count is. I just come on here to help people out if i can (be bothered), and have a chat with people.
Useless my arse. i have only asked two questions while i've been on here.

Calm down, no need to get mad at me Jamagei.
Not all of my posts are useful, and I didn't say that anyone was useless posting, we all do it a few times, John can't expect us to make every post a useful one. Some people just like to say thank you in a post which is fine. Post count is not really a big thing on here. Some people may have less than 1000 posts and have really helped out a lot and provided some useful code, and some have over it and done the same.
And if you noticed, a few people have gotten over 1000, and don't even visit General VB Questions or really any of the forums except Chit Chat, which is fine, I don't think John minds if people sign up just to use Chit Chat, it's what it's for, to chat about anything .
I didn't mean to offend anyone by saying that, sorry if I did .

Thanks Dennis that explains it.
John
Immediatly re-install post counts in Chit Chat so Dennis, myself, and a number of others can reach this mythical limit and define our own status.
