I am looking to build a program with some multi-media controls, to replace some of the physical components of my mobile DJ system. There are freeware solutions out there that so most of what I want, but each leaves one or two things to be desired. I dont DJ enough or charge enough to make the COTS options worth looking at, and many of them are not as good as some of the other freeware.

First thing is, is this even possible with the IDE I have (VB6) without purchaseing expensive (say over $200) add-ins. Anyone built an app like this before?

Second is what type of app this should be. I am guessing that ActiveX EXE is the most likely route seeing as I need to be able to control the aspects of playback for two media files on several forms (frmCD1, frmCD2, frmMixer, frmDB).

Any help/enlightenment/points in the right direction... on this matter is, as always, extremely appreciated.
