Retreiving a file in ASC mode

How do i receive a file with the internet transfer control in asc mode instead of bin.

I need to receive a file from a as/400 and if i retreive it in bin i get a load of garbage.
On a unix machine just replaced the vbLf with vbCrLf but on the as/400 i get all kind of weird char's

The Internet Transfer Control can't use ascii mode, see the microsoft knolage base for more info
