Word 2007 QuickParts and Auto-Numbering
Hello, everyone... This post is about the new QuickParts feature included in Word 2007.
I want to create a simple auto-numbered list to turn it into a QuickPart, which is easy... But here comes the tricky part:
There are going to be two types of auto-numbered list you might want to consider:
- The list continues the auto-numbering from a previous list
- The list begins with its own auto-number
Now, after performing some research I found out the default behavior is that the auto-numbering is continued... While in some cases that's just what you need, in others (Like QuickParts that have their own auto-numbered lists of elements) it is not acceptable.
Here is the question:
"How can you create a QuickPart containing an auto-number list that will always begin from 1 whenever you insert it?"
As usual, I will continue researching and checking the thread to see your thoughts regarding this... In case I find the answer I will post it here.
Thanks for your time and interest.
We miss you, friend... Rest in Peace, we will take care of the rest of it.

Searched MS' Knowledge Base and found nothing about it. I will keep playing with it and posting the results of my research here.

Re: Word 2007 QuickParts and Auto-Numbering
Still no luck, but found out you can make sure to store hidden symbols pressing ctrl + *
I thought that by adding a continuous break section the auto-numbering would be restarted, but that didn't happen.
I also tried inserting the auto-number field but it doesn't behave the way the auto-number list does since you can hit enter and the next number won't come up: You will have to insert another auto-number field so it will continue the auto-number count.
Funny enough, the auto-number field has the ability to let you change the string it uses for spacing but it doesn't provide the option to restart the numbering from there.
I was thinking to return to the basics and ask "How do we normally make Word to restart the numbering without us having to select the number and select "Restart Numbering"?"
