Resolved [RESOLVED] Deploying CR - merge modules (no CR msm files)

    Hello,

I have to deploy my application and have been instructed to use merge modules. As the client computers don't have any CR on them. However when I right click on the setup project and add merge modules. There are no msm files for crystal reports.

Can anyone tell me what should I do to add these files, so my project can be deployed and ran on the clients machines

I am using VS.Net 2005 and Crystal Reports 10. I have been told to enter a lience key. How do I do this?

    Thank in advance,

    Steve

    Check this path

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Merge Modules\

Usually the merge modules are located on this path...
Dont forget to put the license key!

Your asking on "how do you input the license key?"
If so, in your Deployment Solution, after you put the merge files, check the Property window for each *.MSM (merge files) Look for License Key Property.
For you License Key, check the VS2005 Menu ..Help and About..
It will display your License key.
    Good Luck!

Re: [RESOLVED] Deploying CR - merge modules (no CR msm files)

    Vincent,
I have the same issue. I used Visual Studio installer to implement the Crystal Report MSM's. I still get an error when I try to run a report on a client machine. I don't see a properties/license window for the MSM's in Visual Studio Installer so I can't put in my license. What are using to deploy MSM's?
    Thanks!

Look for the property on each msn file in your deployment solution. It looks like a tree node. Just click it to expand the property. Input the license key there.

After that, compile your deployment solution and test it again.

    Good luck!

Thanks Vincent. But those Crystal report MSM don't have the license property. So I could not see them with Visual Studio Installer. I had to install ORCA by way of Windows SDK. Then I could see all the properties in the License.MSM. I changed the PROPERTY table that had PIDKEY and allowed me to input my activation code.
It worked!! I spent nearly a week on this stupid thing
