    [Serious] Chit Chat

Some of the conversations in Chit Chat have been allowed to get a little out of control. Additionally, some serious threads have been hijacked and taken off topic.

I have asked the moderators to step up the moderation of chit chat so that the acceptable usage policy is followed in this forum too. Be aware that if you do personal attacks on others, use profanity (even if censored), or otherwise violate the AUP, then you run the risk of being asked to leave the forum.

VBForums is primarily about development, and development with Visual Basic. It is a place where developers can get together and ask questions or answer them. It is also a place where developers can come and chat with other developers. This can be done at a level that is appropriate for our younger readers as well as in a way that is respectful of others. People should not have to fear personal attacks or negative comments from others -- and right now I've been told they do. As such, the moderators are going to step up and change that. VBForums should be a fun place for anyone to come to without worrying about off-color conversations, personal attacks, and general negativity towards others. Please help us make this happen.

    Thanks.

    Brad!

    Re: [Serious] Chit Chat

In the past, people have had to tag the titles of their threads with <serious> in order to prevent the thread from being hijacked. At this time, this should no longer be necessary. If you do not know the original poster of the question, or if there is any question about the thread being serious, then you should assume it is a serious question or a serious topic.

If it is obvious that it is not seirous, or if the person has indicated it isn't, then have fun with it. But again, if in doubt, don't disrespect a person's question if it is honest.

    Thanks,

    Brad!
