Mouse and Service Pack 2
I just recently was having some Internet Explorer problems so I uninstalled Windows Service Pack 2 and then reinstalled it, but now for some reason my MX510 (mouse) isn't working with Service Pack 2. The mouse is optical so I see the red light on when its booting up, but once it gets to the Windows XP Professional screen it shuts off. Right now I'm on Service Pack 1. Any clue whats wrong? Thanks.

Go into the Device Manager and check there are no yellow question marks shown next to any of the USB Hub devices. If there are, you will need to right click those and use the Update Driver option.

Re: Mouse and Service Pack 2
I found out that there is no longer a Mice tree on my Device Manager list once I upgrade to SP2. That might have something to do with it.

What part didn't you understand?
And the mouse tree doesn't show up because there are no recognised mouse devices. Not the cause, just an effect.

I think the part about right-clicking. What does he click? His mouse button? On a computer that doesn't recognize his mouse? Uh ...
Duc, reinstall SP2 and plug in a serial mouse when you boot (as well as the USB mouse).
The most difficult part of developing a program is understanding the problem.
The second most difficult part is deciding how you're going to solve the problem.
Actually writing the program (translating your solution into some computer language) is the easiest part.

I think he ment while hes on SP1.
I doubt he has a serial mouse, I don't even one and I have 3487283947 computer parts lying around.
Your MX510 should've came with a USB -> PS2 adapter. Never had a problem with that adapter. Also, uninstall any logitech mouse drivers, as just let SP2 detect it. Those drivers that are installed may not be compitatiable with SP2. And if theres no drivers windows should use defualt drivers so you can at least use it (maybe not any of the special buttons, but the left + right click should work ect).
Also, for right clicking for no mouse...windows has accessibility options, just enable so you can use the mouse with the keyboard.
But thats weird, I had bought a logitech mouse off ebay and the left click didn't work (I was eventually sent a replacment). Maybe logitech has a record of faulty equipment?

Oh come on, that's what the Menu button on the keyboard is for.
