Question Protecting Wireless lan (challenging(for me:)

Hi every one

I have three pc 2 laptop and 1 desktop I want my two laptops to be connected to my network by wireless ..

But when I enable the WEP protection the laptop cannot connect .(they can only connect when the Authentication is disabled )

So I am planning making an application (in vb.net) that promts the user when ever they connect to my network and I have no clue where to start

Any help would be great thx

Why not just update the drivers on the laptop so that it can handle WEP? It's not usual practice to write code to get around deficiencies in outdated drivers.
The most difficult part of developing a program is understanding the problem.
The second most difficult part is deciding how you're going to solve the problem.
Actually writing the program (translating your solution into some computer language) is the easiest part.

Please indent your code and use tags around it to make it easier to read.

Enable WEP. Set the network passcode, and note the Network Key code it generates.
Open your Network Connection and find the Wireless Network Connection, right-click, select properties.
Click the Wireless Netwroks tab (should be in the middle).
Under preferred networks, find your lan. It maybe disabled, but that's OK.
Select it and click Properties.
Make sure the SSID is correct.
Set the Network Authentication to Open, and select WEP as the encryption.
Enter the Network key.... and again.... if you used the first key in the list the router gave you, then leave Key Index alone.... if you selected any of the others, change it.

Click OK.

It should now connect.

It's worked for me, so I don't see why it shouldn't in this case.
