    Question

Are there other basics out there still that compile to a single EXE without DLLs.

Can they shell to a program on the user's computer?

Thanks - I guess I should have know since I've made many QB exes pre VB. I assume that QB still brings up a DOS window thought rather than being a Windows exe

Check out XBasic by Max Reason ... it compiles to the Win platform and to the Linux platform ... that's pretty cool ain't it?

Unfortunately, I lost the URL, but it was something like this:

http://www.maxreason.net << or whatever -- look in the Linux geek/hacker forums and you will find it, I am sure.

    Exclamation Found the URL

It took me some time, but I found it, though. Here is the XBasic page itself:

    http://www.maxreason.com/software/xbasic/xbasic.html

The URL to Max Reason's web site was

    http://www.maxreason.com

Sorry, I thought it was .net -- XBasic plus the documentation is a little over 5 MB, but at the XBasic site, you can get an idea of what the whole thing is about before you actually spend time downloading it.
