obtain a license
i devloped an aplication( rather devloping one )and it has been accepted by sourceforge.net(as an idea) .so i want to get a license for that ,a gnu open source one .will sourceforge obtain it for me or should i apply it by myself and if so does any one hav any idea of that can be done.

I would contact sourceforge and ask them this question. I'm sure they are familiar with the situation.

You decide which licence you wish to use and use it 
Usually one selects an OSI-approved template.
opensource.org/licenses
There's no "applying" to anyone, you just go ahead and use it. Just make sure you're quite familiar with its terms, if you did not write it.

i am opting for a gpl or lgpl but to be frank I DONT know the difference between the two

and yes i coded 99% of the code .only in one form i used the transculency concept from karl.e.peterson's home page where it's mentioned that one can use the code as he wishes in binary but in source should obtain a written consent .Now i changed the code according to my applic. and in no way does it resemble the original code .will i have a problem with that??
the applictation is somewhat similar to an inventory ,tracking and materials management system in concept.
