    Hello,

I have a major problem in designing my website to cater for 640x480, 800x600 AND 1024x768.

The site looks really great on 800x600, but as much as it looks good on 800x600 it looks not so good on other resolutions.

What should one do?? As far as I'm concerned there is NO WAY that it can look equally good on all the different resolutions!! Am I wrong??

Any help or tips will be very much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    T

The way I do it is by designing the site in a 1024*768 res, and then every now and again chekc the site in 800*600.

I dont think anyone uses 640*480 anymore - well, not anyone that counts anyway.

For table widths etc, i use percentages.
And everything usually looks okay in both resolutions.

Isn't WebTV and other TV-based browsers less than that? And I think more people are going to start using such devices - I'm expecting to see web browser being standard with a TV in a few years...

    I don't agree.
    I think its total hype

Just because two technologies can be merged, doesnt mean they should.
For me, telly is for telly stuff, computer is for computer stuff.

Telly is to relax in front of.
    Computer is to work on.
    I dont want those mixed.

Also, thing about the 50 different 'browsers' that are going to come along. Each television maufacturer is going to come up with their own browser.

    To hell with that

I agree with your points, plenderj. I've "surfed" with my Sega Dreamcast, the experience was pretty lame. The problem is that to most non-techies, a computer is nothing more than a glorified television/ entertainment center, for MP3s, games, DVDs, etc.

    Except however ,
The likes of Dell and Gateway have been pusing computers for so many years now. They know exactly how to reel in the masses as it were.

These television producers only know how to make tellies ... and not very well I might add ... with perhaps the exception of sony and maybe a few others ...

And the sega dreamcast ... well ... Rest In Peace ...
