The Deja newsgroup reader/poster has gone! As far as I know there is no substitute and no timescale for the archives and posting to come back. Has no-body noticed?
Does anyone here know of any other web based access to posting and reading newsgroups? There must be literally hundreds of thousands of daily users completely stranded - this is a significant part of the Internet suddenly gone!

When I read the newsgroups I just use OE...

You can try www.usenet-replayer.com, then you can get back to such wonderfully informative newsgroups as alt.alien.vampire.flonk.flonk.flonk

It was in the tech news yesterday that they were bought out buy another company, I think it was lycos or some other portal/search engine. Sorry but I wasnt paying attention to what it said because I kinda didnt care. I think they were going to intergrate it into their service. Translation: Dead.

Yes they were caught by the googleys ( google.com ) who have ditched the old system, historic archives and posting ability!

The problem is searching thgem all without downloading literally terabytes of stuff (at 128Kb/s).
When I wanted to find out more about CPRM or need to know about Windows Set-Top boxes or needed to debug a digital signature problem with an Active X that I had made (and no-one on VBWorld could tell me in the latter two cases), I was able to find answers in a few minutes on Deja. I would have to have downloaded ALL the usenet groups with OE back for about 2-3 years to get the comprehensive set of info that I acquired.

I did - I clicked around the site a bit but I'm ashamed to say that I couldn't quite work it out the first time (personal bandwidth problem I think ) . . .
- I've looked again now - it looks promising except the links all turn to "cannot find server" on the first group I looked at after about 500ms!
Will tell you what i think after I've looked around a bit. (Cann you post with it?)

Interesting - looks as though you can search the Usenet names but not the post text so the chances of doing a search for "digital asset management" say and coming up with something helpful is a bit slimmer.
