Viability of project - Input required.
I have to come up with a decent viable project for my final year at university. I am just asking what the viability of a project I had in mind is.
I thought about 2 vb programs.
One inputs data (order forms) on a small computer next to the till. The second is a database program on a main computer in a staff room. The one in the staff room is only for reference and will only be touched at the end of the day. For database access etc.
There are two ways of doing it,
either use wifi and have some sort of listener on the main computer to input them throughout the day. This way a customer could edit/refer-to their details when they come in the shop and a balance could be updated upon a phone call.
The other method would be batch processing at the end of the day. Save all the daily orders to a CF card then at the end of the day update the database. Things could not be done on-the-fly and records cannot be accessed during the day. Alterations would have to be done upstairs and the shop would be unattended while the other computer is being accessed.
What do people think of this project?
ALL INPUT HELPS!!!!!!!! I could be barking up an insanely big tree and missing a big point. What do you think of my propposed project?
