Re: window file protection - error message
Does it come up when you log in? Or before? Or...
You probably got a virus that affected the NTFS structure.

Re: window file protection - error message
Or, if it comes up before Windows itself then you may have messed up your installation.
But still, i doubt it,

Re: window file protection - error message
Actually re-reading it, its the thing windows XP does to protect files ewhen your PC was incorrectly shut down, or, when windows deliberatly shut your PC off for a certain reason.
Does it say "Safe mode, Safe mode with command prompt, safe mode with networking, last known good configuration, start windows normally"
Cos if it does, then just start normally, it shouldn't appear very often, but if it does, consider re-installing Windows. (Repair install)

Re: [RESOLVED] window file protection - error message
More than likley you disabled it, or deleted the folder dllcache in %windowsdir%/system32. Which you shouldn't have done both no matter what, because that prevents a virus from deleting certain windows files that it needs to run.
I hope you reenabled it?
