No laptop, don't go to sleep! No! Don't!
Hey everyone
I've searched around, but haven't been able to get a good response in regard to this.. I have recently obtained an Acer Aspire 5002WLMi notebook computer running Win XP home.. I'm trying to allow it the ability to run applications when the laptop is closed, preventing it from entering the sleep status. Hypothetically, if it were doing this, and I were to put a CD into the drive while closed, any app I have running with autoplay for CD audio, would run and start playing music.. Likewise for any other time based applications such as virus scans, or for serverside software such as telnet servers etc... Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance

You need to change the power saving configuration. To do this go to Start Menu->Settings->Control Panel->Power Options

You can choose what happens when the lid is closed. I would recommend selecting "Turn off Screen" as you cannot possibly use it while the lid is closed
