These sometimes occur within seconds of each other and other times they are not together at all. My computer really doesn't seem to have any real issues other than once in awhile my keyboard stops working (microsoft natural usb). I can unplug it and plug it back in and it works fine 95% of the times, other times I have to reboot. I somehow doubt the two issues are directly connected as the timestamps on the errors due not correspond to the keyboard failures.
I'm really at a loss here. Microsofts site has the error list for several issues but nothing that directly describes mine. The help file says it can be ignored unless occurring often then it says to run a check disk. These errors show up probably 30 - 60 times a day in the log. I have run the check disk several times and it never finds an issue. Windows will not defrag either because it says it doesn't need it. I can not seem to find any issues on my computer that ever correspond to the timestamps.
Computer Specs:
Windows XP Pro (V. 5.1 Build 2600.xpsp_sp2gdr.050301-1519: Service Pack 2)
768 MB Ram
1.56Ghz AMD Athlon XP 1800+ Processor.
Diablotek GeForce Graphics Card with 6200 nVidia 512MB/DDR (AGP card)
Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;244780
And look at the tables on "How to decode the data section of an Event ID 51 event message"
And also this one.

Not sure if you read them both but thought it may help.

Re: ftdisk/disk errors and usb failure
Is your hard drive full? If it isn't, you might want to replace the paging file. That may have been corrupted.

RobDog: I'd seen the first article, the troubleshooting tips didn't help. I couldn't seem to figure out the decoding.
Dglienna: That's decent thought. How would you go about that? My hard drive is by no means full (80GB+ free). I wouldn't want to just delete the file would I?

Re: ftdisk/disk errors and usb failure
Right click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced tab > Performance Settings > Advanced tab > Virtual Memory > Change...
You will want to change the pagefile to another drive if you have one. Then reboot and change it back to the original drive and reboot again.

Re: ftdisk/disk errors and usb failure
Sounds good. So if I tell it to use by external hard drive (my only other drive - usb) with that cause any problems? I was worried that windows may crash if it tries to swap to the pagefile if the usb driver hasn't yet loaded.

Re: ftdisk/disk errors and usb failure
What you could try is to resize the VM so its at 0 or whatever the minimum is that it will allow. Then reboot to accept and apply the new size. Then enlarge the VM to a larger size and reboot to apply the changes. This may help since it has to resize the file and may fix any corruption issues.

That sounds like a good idea. I'll give that a try.

Re: ftdisk/disk errors and usb failure
Apparently it didn't work. I just got the error again, 10 minutes after a restart.

Re: ftdisk/disk errors and usb failure
Then maybe the pagefile is not the issue. Can you do a reinstall of Windows?

Re: ftdisk/disk errors and usb failure
That's sort of my last resort. As I said, there are no apparent issues except a possible keyboard/usb issue. But I'm really starting to think it is the keyboard as none of my other usb devices seem to be dropping. I just get concerned when I see "ftdisk" errors. Thanks for your help though.
Anyone else have ideas that doesn't require me reinstalling windows or installing a new hard drive?
