    Diagnostic Software for Multi-media

    Hi Folks,
    I need to check if the hidden microphone in my laptop is working. Is there any diagnostic software available to test this?

    Why not just try to record a sound with Windows Media Recorder ?
    They play it back and see if its working that way ?

    I was upset to find that my HP laptop doesn't HAVE a built-in microphone. It's the first laptop that I've seen that doesn't have one. It has a button to disable the microphone, though. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

    Ouch, isn't that some form of false advertising ? or just a useless feature.

    It mutes the microphone jack, but so does unplugging it.

    Well, I tried to get a friend call me on my googletalk. No luck with that either.
    I also realized that this laptop is not a HP. Its a Dell 610 Latitude. No its not a useless feature, as I use it a lot. Better than typing
