[serious]quick question about hard drives
If the master/slave jumper isn't plugged in and it's the only hard drive, it should read as a master drive, right?

Re: quick question about hard drives
Well, as there is no other drive logic would tell me yes.

Re: quick question about hard drives
If the drive is specifically built to be in CS (cable select) mode with no jumpers on then you are probably fine. However, if not and without any jumpers on it's impossible to know the logic level of those pins, therefore it's pretty much up in the air as to if it is master or slave.
