    IIS on Windows XP Home Edition

    Hi,

    Is there a way for me to install & run IIS on my machine?

    IIS doesn't seem to be part of the XP Home Edition package.

    No idea if it works though...

    I don't know if it is possible, but I suggest that you don't waste time even trying. It's not worth the effort. Get XP Pro. That's what it was designed for.
    There have been a few threads about this, and someone said that it worked, but I never tried his method.

    I would recommend you download the Apache web server.

    http://httpd.apache.org/
    PHP || MySql || Apache || Get Firefox || OpenOffice.org || Click || Slap ILMV || 1337 c0d || GotoMyPc For FREE! Part 1, Part 2

    | PHP Session --> Database Handler * Custom Error Handler * Installing PHP * HTML Form Handler * PHP 5 OOP * Using XML * Ajax * Xslt | VB6 Winsock - HTTP POST / GET * Winsock - HTTP File Upload

    Latest quote: crptcblade - VB6 executables can't be decompiled, only disassembled. And the disassembled code is even less useful than I am.

    yeah someone said it worked on their machine, I tried it and managed to have the IIS Manager show up.. and start and stop the service, but there is something in my settings that blocks anonymous login. Since my OS is japanese, I didn't bother checking it out, they said it can be seen in the event logs what was wrong but it took too much time,
    ehehehe, I tried all of this in one night. But still ended up having to restore to a restore point to clean up my mess

    Right now I have 2000 Prof and XP home on the same machine to work on .NET and ASP (dual boot)

    Agreed with dglienna. It's a waste of time and is bound to cause more problems than solve them.
