MainBoard not working
When I switch on my pc, nothing happens. I open up my casing and switch on, i find that the fans are on for a few seconds after i switch on the power but dies off in a few seconds. Power supply should not be the problem as i have switch over and test its functionality. Left only the main board , whats gond wrong?
Regards
Goh

Re: MainBoard not working
I had a similar problem last week - and eventually found that the graphics card had failed!
It is hard to tell what causes it exactly, just try removing/disconnecting parts (such as memory, graphics card, cd-roms) until it powers on - it should be obvious which part is causing it.
Of course if you remove all of that and nothing is happening, then your board probably is gone...

I have a machine that sometimes needs to be unplugged from the wall and pluged in again before it'll work.

Check BIOS to see if it Power Management is enabled. If it is, turn it off. Windows has options to do it for you.

diisconect everthing including any harddrives or memory then with just the graphics card in so you can plug a monitor in and a keyboard start the machine up it should get to the post screen if i remember correctly. In any event it should not shut down. If it does you know the fault is either the mb or the graphics card. If it stays running start pluging in one thing at a time till it won't start up. The 3 most likely culprets are the graphics card the harddrive (a cable could have come loose or the data ribbon inserted the wrong way round.) or one of the memory sticks. Anyway good luck
