Thumbs down [RESOLVED (for now)] Isn't this rediculous?

Can anyone explain (see attached image) why the heck there have to be three (or even more) lines between the "visual" lines so add would take literally 3/4 of the screen ???

I haven't seen it like that (I've only seen normal spacing), which browser are you using?

    Re: Isn't this rediculous?

I sometimes use IE, and hadn't seen it like that (I'm pretty sure I saw that particular advert).

I just tried viewing several of our pages in IE, and the closest I got was single spacing, admittedly for a slightly different advert.

I'll ask the appropriate person to have a look into it.

Just as I had posted that advert came up, and it had the same format as you showed. I hope that means it fixable!

It was (almost) ok in FireFox tho:

Yes, all the ads with that layout are right aligned on mine too (IE) and double or triple spaced. I switched to 800x600 and it covered the entire screen.

Did you accidently set the Zoom feature, which is controlled through the mouse wheel? That same feature is also in FireFox. I dunno how it's activated, but sometimes I do it by accident, and I end up changing font sizes and a variety of other things in my browser with it.

    Re: Isn't this rediculous?

That's not the problem, it is actually a flaw in the advert shown (others are ok for me).

No, I didn't. But that (as SI already mentioned) shouldn't a problem anyway - it must a "hole" in programming...

Re: [RESOLVED BUT NOT RESOLVED] Isn't this rediculous?

I must admit they did annoy me. But recently I haven't seen them, all I see now is the smaller "Oracle" ones which aren't very obtrusive IMO. Then again, having posted this, I'll probably see a huge one now

I was notified about a change actually taking place, but I just checked and this Ad is ok now for me in IE (as shown below), and is still fine in Fx.

Are you still seeing problems RhinoBull?

I did see those enormous adds few days ago but today looks ok so maybe they did fix it. If I see any more of those will try to capture and post it.

    Thanks for letting me know.

    Ok, thanks.

By the way I had a typo, I meant to say that I wasn't informed of the change. It seems the people who do the ad's made a fix tho.

Re: [RESOLVED (for now)] Isn't this rediculous?

I have had the ad people check on several ads recently. If there are any specific ad issues (like the right justification), then please let me know which ad it is (screenshot is best) and I'll notify them again. Generally, the Jupitermedia ad people have to contact the agency doing the ad for the specific company running the ad, so it can take 24 hours or so to get an ad fixed. It generally shouldn't take much longer than that though.

Is the right justification still happening for people?

Also -- The blank ads are a harder issue. If that happens, if can send me the source code for the page, that may help us identify what ad is causing the issue.

    Thanks,

    Brad!

Well, they are all appear to be right aligned for me. I may upload some screen shots but literally every add that has text in it would have to be captured.
Also, as long as they don't take most of the space on the screen - I can leave with that - I don't bother reading any of it anyway. It's the size that annoys really. I have spoken to several people that do marketing for living - they all agree that it's not the size of an add that brings revenue but the content rather.
Say you have 50 lines of text in the add but only 2 of them are actual links and rest is some descriptions... Having desc in the add takes lots of people away from the advertized product. On the other hand if you only have links lots of people would "go there" only out of curiousity...
Having said area next to VB Wire News could accomodate a lot more info then any of those monsterous adds combined.

    Enough said I guess.

    Best regards.
