I want to modify my Windows installation to look like this.

yes.

the backround bmp and dialog script (control placement / captions) are in shell32.dll

you'll need reshacker.

edit: here's the backround bmp from my XP SP2 shell32.dll. if you put him in there, i may do the hack for you. please keep it as bitmap / png.

download / unrar it.

replace the file in c:\windows\system32\dllcache with this one

rename the file in c:\windows\system32 to shell32 old.dll

quickly copy the new file into c:\windows\system32

windows will complain that you've replaced a system file, tell it that that's what you want (cancel, then yes)
