shoutbox thingy

I'm creating a shoutbox with flat files but when i write to the flat file, the text goes underneath the text thats already there, i need it to go above the text so its like a shout box.

e.g if it was like this

Tom: Hello

and i added some text it would be like this

Tom: fjgndfkg
Tom: Hello

i need that plz.
