Is this usual for a fan ? [resolved]
Hey all, i have recently hooked up an Akasa case fan with BLue LED's to my case, ok, its not exactly mounted in the correct position, because my case is a Micro-ATX that doesn't allow for an additional Case fan.
Its actually mounted on the side panel of my case through a rather wide mesh casing, it seems to be working fine blowing cool air into my case.
But, this is the (not so) problem, my CPU fan cooling an Intel Celeron D used to run between 1.6k and 1.9k RPM, it always made my processor work at around 69C on full load, and 67C idle (I know its hot, hence the new fan). With the addition of the new fan ABOVE the old fan BOTH blowing cool air (one at the other fan and one at the CPU) the old fan seems to hit between 1.9k and 2.6k RPM. Is this higher RPM due to the other fan blowing onto it, and do you think its safe ?
My CPU now runs at 64C with load, so for the addition of 1 fan i only lose 5C, does that seem correct ?
EDIT : Looks cool though

I'd say so.
Assuming the sped increase is due to the other fan blowing on it there shouldn't be a problem.

I'd say that's a reasonable drop. Where you expecting more?
Ps. Yes It does look good.

I wasn't sure what to expect really, i'm actually looking to ditch the Intel CPU in favour of an AMD Athlon XP.(No 64-Bit for me yet)
I can feel the increase in the heat of the air around me since the installation, but i suppose thats normal since its removing more hot air.
Is there anywhere i can find a heat chart for my CPU, i think its probably stable upto 90C, but i'm not too sure.

AMD have detailed information like that on their web site (along with other product details), I would assume that Intel do too.

Re: Is this usual for a fan ?
I've stumbled accross it on the Intel site, turns out the maximum for optimal operation on a 2.8Ghz Geleron is 75C.
