[RESOLVED] Reinstall the sound card
I recently had to format my hard disk and reinstall Win98. I don't know how to re-enable the sound card, as I don't know manufacturer and the controller is not automatically detected.

Re: Reinstall the sound card
Is it an on board sound card? Or is on it's own card in a PCI slot or what ever?

It is listed in the Device Manager tab as PCI Multimedia Audio Device.

Re: Reinstall the sound card
Have you tried to upen up the box and look at the card to see if it says something about what brand and what model it is?

I think I'm gonna try it as soon as I can get hold of a screwdriver.
In the meantime I've tried the API's waveOutGetNumDevs to check for a sound card and it didn't detect it. I thought it shoud be detected even if the controller was not installed. Then I looked for it in the BIOS and was unable to spot it...

It looks like an integrated sound card. The motherboard is K7S5A by ECS and it's described here
So, according to the description in this page, do I need an AC97 driver?

I've found and downloaded WDM_A376.exe and now the sound card is successfully installed and everything is back to normal.
