Re: Is there a problem with email notifications?
They seem fine this end. I sometimes don't get any notifications for a few hours then they all come in one go. It usually indicates a problem with the ISP's SMTP server, it is quite plausable that only one domain can be affected.

Re: Is there a problem with email notifications?
Yeah maybe they are all queuing up somewhere and then you will get them in a flood. I've been getting them fine, usually within a minute or two of the reply. Also the site is now very quick thankfully
Is it all forums or just any particular ones?

Re: Is there a problem with email notifications?
I believe notifications queue up until there are a certain number or a certain amount of time. I know I get bounce messages in small groups every few minutes. These have been happening, so worst case, all that is happening is a small delay.

You mean always? I've always got them one at a time pretty much instantly.
BTW, why do you have a spinny thing next to your title? Did you win something?

Re: Is there a problem with email notifications?
I got a few notifications yesterday and so I thought the problem was corrected, but after waking up this morning and running to sit down at my PC in expectation of a bunch of notifications (this is my life you know) I didn't find any My User CP shows that I should have received several and I wish I knew what was going on.

Between the CodeBank, C#, Crystal Reports and COM/ActiveX I always have no less than 10 to 15 email notifications every morning when I log in. Today, I had two, and I've no idea why those two came through and the others didn't. I could almost understand all or nothing, but dribs and drabs are really confusing.

Re: Is there a problem with email notifications?
I don't have access to the settings on this forum, but I do on CodeGuru. The settings should be identical.
On CodeGuru, the notifications for subscriptions should go continuously; however, vBulletin queues up emails. The queue is set to 10 emails. This means that it will wait for 10 emails to be queued up before sending any of them. With the number of people using this forum, that should generally amount to a delay of no more than a few minutes and in most cases no delay at all.
If there is a delay of more than a couple of minutes during normally day hours, then it is most likely at a server on your side.

Re: Is there a problem with email notifications?
I don't think it's a problem with my server (AOL) because I'm getting non-VBF emails just fine.

Re: Is there a problem with email notifications?
I just made a setting change. Emails should no longer "queue up" before being sent. Lemme know if there's any perceived difference. Thanks

Re: Is there a problem with email notifications?
And you're definitely subscribed to threads that have been replied to in the last half hr? Because that's about when I made the change.
As a control measure, can you put another email into your profile? It's not inconceivable that the delay is on the part of the ISPs mail handling.

Re: Is there a problem with email notifications?
I'm subscribed to a bunch of threads that are active and I'm not getting anything, not even PMs. And it's not my ISP's problem since I'm receiving non-VBF mail just fine.

Re: Is there a problem with email notifications?
I don't have another email, but I did test it by
- Sending myself an email from Outlook
- Sending myself a "Password Reminder" via the Admin console
I got the first one within 2 minutes but I haven't received the second one yet and it's been about 10 minutes.

Re: Is there a problem with email notifications?
That could have something to do with filters stopping the emails due to content and/or attachments. I've never had any problem receiving mail from anyone except VBF. I also just got a note from Brad without any problem. Why don't you send me an email outside of VBF and then something from inside (that doesn't go though your mail client - like the "password reminder")? Also is there any way for you to look in VBF for whatever is waiting to be sent to me?

Re: Is there a problem with email notifications?
We have a problem apparently. I changed a setting in the email string. An additional parameter that apparently some servers require, but others do not. The problem is, with the setting in one position, some of you get the email. With it in the other position, a different group get the emails. Seems there is no setting that fixes the problem for everyone, without breaking the emails for someone else.

Re: Is there a problem with email notifications?
If some of you would indulge us, I'd like to ask that those of you who're getting emails intermittently or not at all, would try using a different email address. I mean a different one entirely, not just a different name on the same email domain. It would help us find out where the trouble is. Thanks.

Re: Is there a problem with email notifications?
I seem to be unable to change mail address... Ain't I supposed to get a note where it says that I have to confirm the mail adress by clicking a link in the mail send to me? I am not getting that note, and I am not getting any mail. Have tried with a gmail.com address, a broadpark.no address, and a cern.ch address.
Using WinXP and Fx. WIll try in IE too
