No hard drive is shock proof. It can be to a certain extent. But not much. The heads of hard drives are very precies parts and are rather easily damaged. If you need a shock proof memory go with a Flash memory card.

I think that you can get that kind of storage with a memory flash card but definatelly not at the same prices... You can't have everything

well I saw one "shock proof" and I'd rather have it that way than not, 'cause I could get really clumsy, when I'm not thinking clearly.

well as Mr Polite said, max is 8Gb and I already have 128 mb.. and another from my camera card I just bought a reader for it so that would amount to 512 + 128 and I don't think I would need more but then I would want to extend my 30 gb (laptop hd) .. and 80gb is very nice indeed.

I have already bought one, since nobody replied yesterday...

80 gb, USB powered, Shockproof(70 cm cleared), Logitech, black
for 18800 japanese yen = just convert it to dollars

plus a couple more others that is USB powered.

    I was contemplating .

that I am trying to figure out... I found another similar product about 1K yen more to its price and it says about 5200 rpm... but this one I am having trouble looking for the speed... LOL, aside from the fact the my OS is japanese, specs for this in japanese so I'm just looking for the word RPM but can't get to it..

hmm it has a speed on it? seems like you got a usb hard drive. What I was reffering to was a hard drive "enclosure" so you could put any internal hard drive that you buy inside it.
yeah it's hard to look for something like that if half the specs are in japanese half english hehe

not half... all specs are in japanese.. except for a few english words.. even that they change into Katakana script but I can already read those. ...

dunno havn't tried prying it open. ... there is no instruction as on how to open it as well... , I'm not trying anything here unless I see (at least) images on how to do things. 'cause I still can't read japanese instructions... everytime i do, I feel like cracking up really hard code for hours and books everywhere.
