[RESOLVED] Thread Rating
Is there a way to know who rated a thread (not Reps )?
Thread Ratings are the 1-5 stars that you can vote for located at the top of the thread.

Re: Thread Rating
If you hover over the start rating you can see how many people voted, but I think only admins can see who voted.
The feature has been dissabled in Chit Chat but not world events, can't undersstand why...

I don't believe there is any way to tell short of querying the DB.

Re: Thread Rating
Ok, Thanks for the info. I just was wondering since I had a thread in VB.NET that got a 4 star rating.

Re: [RESOLVED] Thread Rating
I rate good (and bad) threads. I've managed to drop a few from 5 down to 3 with my rating of 1.

What does rating a thread does?

Re: [RESOLVED] Thread Rating
Yeah, I have always ignored the stars, because I could never figure a relationship between them and the contents of the thread. I guess there are a few people rating threads, but who, and why?
My usual boring signature: Nothing

Re: [RESOLVED] Thread Rating
If someone rates their thread as 5 stars, and it isn't what I think 5 star threads should be, I give it my opinion. And if I like a thread, I rate it. If enough people rated threads, they'd actually mean something.

Re: [RESOLVED] Thread Rating
I meant those stars, what do they give to a certain thread? What is its essence?

Re: [RESOLVED] Thread Rating
Anybody can click on Rate this Thread (that is online and a member)
They get averaged and displayed in the thread
There. One 5 and one 1 averages out to 3 stars

Re: [RESOLVED] Thread Rating
Just empasizing my point. The rating of threads is subjective, and doesn't really have anything to do with the content of the thread.

Re: [RESOLVED] Thread Rating
Quite the opposite on the content part. Its all about rating the thread, which is the content. What else do you think its rating?

Re: [RESOLVED] Thread Rating
Not sure. If the thread starter rates it as a 5 star question, what is that supposed to mean?

Re: [RESOLVED] Thread Rating
Same concern here, I think it is the system again, well, I could rate 'lousy' threads also, not just good ones but what is really the point of this rating threads? I have seen some rated thread which is not interesting at all.

Re: [RESOLVED] Thread Rating
I wonder if there is an option to prevent the thread starter from rating their own thread. That really annoys me, you see a 5-star rated thread and you open it just because it is the only rated thread on that page and it turns out to be some vague question written in half-English
Apart from that, it is an OK feature, but the one other gripe I have with it is that a one-star thread catches the eye more than a thread with no rating, even though 1 star is meant to signify that the thread is rubbish...

Re: [RESOLVED] Thread Rating
Why take away the ability of the thread starter from rating his own thread? What if they really like the solution that someone posted? I doubt that the reply'ee will rate their own question by rating the thread. Again, its subjective and thats why you can look at the average star rating. If its only 1 vote then it may not reflect the overall level of the thread. If its got 5 votes and its a 4 star thread then its is a more accurate reflection of the threads contents.
