Configure Site [Resolved]
If I wanted to set my test site to be the default site so when I enter in my IP in IE it will display my initial page, how do
I configure IIS to do this? Also, what security and permissions should I set?
I'm sure I will have many other questions on some coding too so stayed tuned.
My initial page is index.aspx.
Go easy on me guys, remember this is my first time so please dont beat me for asking an easy question.

Umm, I'm getting a error that its not found. "Server Error in '/' Application."
I cant even view the page in my browser. Its a publishing
issue or something. I have a virtual site created by the project.

Re: Configure Site - n00b here :(
if you go into C:\Inetpub\wwwroot that is where all of you stuff is hosted for IIS....
In my folder, I have a folder called Fusion, because that is the name of my project, so my url that I set is:
http://localhost/Fusion/LoginForm.aspx

Re: Configure Site - n00b here :(
also another way to find your virtual path is to go into IIS in the control panel under administrative tools. Under WebSite-->Default Websites should be the project that you are doing. If you right click properties on your project and go the the ASP .NET tab, there is a textbox that gives you your virtual path...

Re: Configure Site - n00b here :(
Right, thats whats going on here. I have http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/WebApp1/index.aspx and I get a 404 error But if I just enter in my IP then I get the Default Web Site that IIS generates. How can I make it so I can enter in my IP and it goes to /WebApp1/index.aspx ?
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.

Re: Configure Site - n00b here :(
In INETMGR, right click "Default Web Site", and go to the Documents tab.
Add "foldername/pagename.aspx" as the only document in there, sans quotes.

Ah yeah, there's that option too, set your sub folder as the HOme Directory. Post a snapshot of your tabs (Home directory and default documents)... maybe you're too n00bish to configure it right.

How would I "publish" the pages to my server? I am developing the site on my XP system (localhost) and I need it to
go to my \\ServerName\Inetpub\wwwroot.

Can I just copy over the aspx files or do they need to be published to my server somehow?

Re: Configure Site [Resolved?]
"Publishing" is a fancy word for copying over (for the most part)
To deploy an ASP.NET app, you only need to ensure the virtual directory is in place, and your ASPX, BIN, ASCX, DLL, OCX, CSS, etc. are in place.

Re: Configure Site [Resolved?]
When deploying to a production server to which you have remote access/direct access, you can create a web setup project, it'll create the virtual dir for you and copy the files over.
Else you can go the copy route.
