cause of this system lag?
Ok, whenever I play medal of honor online, I can play for a little while and then I get severe system lag. It's NOT network lag because I got a good ping and the game will still lag in single player. It will lag for about 5-10 minutes and stop. After that I can play a while and the same thing happens again. My laptop does get really hot, so I'm wondering if it's overheating and the fans not working. Do you guys have any idea what's going on?

maybe check your IRQ settings? video card may be sharing an IRQ with the sound card. On newer systems this usually wont be a problem, but on older systems it can cause what you're describing, or may cause the game to stop completely.

sounds more like a problem with another process that is running.
you probably have an anti-virus, or somthing like that that checks somthing ever 10 mins or so, and continues to do so even when the game is being played
try booting with only NECESSARY components/processes and playing it that way. (to do so use: msconfig)

I don't think it's background processes. I can get out of the game at the time of the lag and everything will be terribly slow. Could overheating cause this problem?

i im betting 98% chance it is not a hardware issue!
if it was overheating it would just shutdown (most likely)
if you press ALT+TAB it should minimize the game! just keep tcpview open and if there is a logging option turn it on (dont think there is though )
