    Question MCSD exams help

    Hi,

My name is Piyush and I'm from India. I'm recetly graduated and working as a freelancer on a top outscourcing site rentacoder.com. I've got good response and appreciation of my work in vb6 and vb .net from the buyers on this site. I'm amongst the top 1500 coders out of 100,000 on the site. Now I want to be a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer so as to get more advanced knowledge as well as certifcation from a company like Microsoft. The language which I have choosen for this is VB .NET but I know C# also. I seek help on how to start preparing for the exmas i.e. do's and don'ts. I've seen many members of this fourm are MCSD. So if any one of you are reading this thread please guide me.

    Regards,
    Piyush

    Re: MCSD exams help

Check out the M$ site on the MCSD. They list info on what the tests cover and what you should know and for how long.

http://transender.com/ is a site where you can find some sample testing software.

Is that what you used mendhak? Are the books better then simulated testing software?

    Only $109.00 Sounds inexpensive.

Yeah... but I didn't use all of them. The SQL server, Winforms and ASP.NET papers were dead easy, and I realized that you just need hands on experience for those.

I've never heard of measureup.com. Is it something like braindumps?

    Re: MCSD exams help

They have their own testing software like transender. They are MS Certified Testing Providers but they are expensive.

Each test on CD is $89 but they give discounts if you purchase a bundle of tests.

I'm almost ready to take 70–306

    Re: MCSD exams help

I have used both MeasureUp and Transcender in my time.

Back when I sat the Visual Studio 6 exams, the MeasureUp ones were available through there site and you used to get quite a decent bank of questions (about 50 if I remember right) that you could use for free.

    Now, of course, they charge

I splurged on the Transcender ones after I'd sat three of the five exams, but they are a great resource for me when I'm working with course delegates because you can show an example of how the exams actually are when you sit them. And if you've never sat an exam, it's good to know what to expect when you get there!

However, you cannot beat a good book, and you can't go wrong (IMHO) with the ExamCram series. I spend a lot of time commuting it's much easier to take a book than a laptop. Take a look here http://safari.examcram2.com I haven't (personally) found anything better than the red books in the run up to the exam and the big blue books as a starting point if you're new to this game!

PS: The books by Mike Gunderloy rock
