Msc IT dissertation help

Hello Everyone,

i am a student who is studying Msc Information Technology, in UK.

I have to select a dissertation topic but i am unable to decide one.

I am a VB programmer who has extensively used VB 6. (I dont not much exposure yet in .NET).

I want to do a project that requires substantial programming but i am unable to decide a suitable topic for 3 month(s) dissertation.

I have interest in general software development, games, simulations, movies.

Can anyone give me ideas or help me out in some way.

You interested in AI at all- neural networks, that sort of thing? That can involve some challenging work in algorithms.

Well i would be glad if some specified topics can be mentioned. i am still kind of confused as to what topic should i select for dissertation.

Just as a suggestion you might want to take a look at some of the existing e-learning platforms widely used - most are web based.

http://moodle.org/ - open source course management system - I know of a few universities in the UK that use this.

http://www.webct.com/ - again widely used in the education sector - not free though!

Which uni are you at? - it might be interesting to see if they have any E-Learning policies in place.

I study in University of Nottingham and my topic is more of related to avatars in e-learning.
