Hello,

I am just starting out on the road to VB.NET Development, having worked with it briefly over the past couple of years.

All my knowledge is self taught, and therefore probably fundamentally lacking.

I'm looking to start now from scratch, and learn the basics, then progress as my knowledge increases.

Therefore I'm looking for your recommendations on what books I should start reading, and in what order.

I currently have Derek Christopher's Book which I am working through - Is this a good starting point ?

If not, what should I be looking at ?
If it is, what should I move onto next ?

All opinions greatly received.

Advice: Never buy books marked as "for beginners" because they soon become worthless, always get a book that is above your current level of knowledge. Then it'll be useful for a lot longer.

(maybe you have typo in the title)

Maybe it was "Visual Basic .Net Tips & Tricks" rather than "VB.Net", I can't remember. Haven't read it for 2 years.

theres an eBook called Hungry Minds that i found to be very good. a friend gave it to me, so i dont know where it came from...

For reference books, I have found books from O'Reilley press to be particularly good. They have a good philosophy, which does not include padding with screen shots and wide margins. However, these seem more like reference than tutorial.
