Okay, I didn't like that people were removing attachments from old posts. The result is that I doubled the attachment limits today.

What I ask in return is that everyone be aware of what they attach to make sure it is the smallest size possible. You should also make sure it is something that should be uploaded (there is lots of 'stuff' in chit chat that could be be removed ).

So there is higher limits. Please use it wisely.

    thanks,

    Brad!

Thank you. I haven't had to do it, again. I seem to be getting to the PM limit awfully quickcly, though. Any way to increase that limit?

    Re: attachments

Pms should not be an issue since even Mods have similar limits. Just do some cleaning up and delete old PMs or
download to a file on your system for archiving.

    Re: attachments

This is just a suggestion on attachments, and that is that any compiled file not be allowed.

If a Mod sees an .Exe or .OCX or .Dll or .Whatever, that file should be removed from the attachement.

Considering the nature of this forum, I fail to see no reason for ever including anything in an attachment but source code or some form of documentation.

You are correct Hack. When we come across a compressed file attachment of an exe or it includes an
exe we ask the poster the either repost it as source code or take out the exe from the zip file. Exe's by
themselves alone non-compressed are not uploadable.

I dont see how anyone could be reaching the attachment limit. I think what we had was enough. I see that some
members are using the same demo code over and over again instead of referring to their first post with it as
an attachment. I have been here over 4 years and I have not hit the limit nor gotten close to it and I have the 3rd
    highest postcount.

It takes just a little bit of thinking before you post an attachment. Not including an exe, for one, will reduce
your attachment size, images should be cropped and not "Full screen screenshots", and if its not too long
you can just post the source code instead of attaching a complete project.

    My 2 cents

    Thanks.

We are not really looking for them, they usually get pointed out to us and then we can take care of them.

    Re: attachments

I'm going to start looking for old uploads. I didn't think about it before. The problem is the name, even the zips are called Project1 in most of the cases.
If I had them named properly now, I'd replace them or link to the new version. Maybe in the future...

It shouldnt make a difference if they are all named Project1.zip. If you can find the thread that you want,
    thats all that should matter?

It might even be better that they are all named generically.

And the highest rating of all of us - we are not worthy - we are not worthy

BTW - whenever I upload a screen shot I always save it as the lowest resolution - making it the smallest I can.
