Resolved Please help me get started

    Hi,

Will someone please be so kind to give me a little push in the right direction?

I need to learn Java (as applicable in mobile technology development), and don't have a clue where to start.

Until now I did basically vb development, but time came to switch over to Java.

Any articles, sites, tutorials for complete noobs will be appreciated.

    Thanx in advance!

The java.sun.com site is the best for tutorials and stuff, but I personally like books to start out with.

I'd agree with System Error - your best bet by far is to use a book. Once you've grounded yourself in the language, the tutorials on the Java fora will be easier to comprehend.

    Hi,

    Thanx for the advice :-)

Currently in a *****ty position, so will have to stick to the internet (the java.sun site is great thanx). Agree with you guys, I also prefer books, and actually had a lump in my throat leaving my collection behind before coming here.

Anyhow dunno yet where to find English books in this city....even the chix don't understand a word english when one hit on 'em!

Got dissed with my first interview today cuz I dunno Java :-(
