    Ryan....remember that MSDN and Google are your best friends and they should form your starting point before asking questions like this. Try this article I found this by typing .NET, encryption and "text file" into the MSDN search facility.

    <lecture>I'm not wanting to complain, but you seem to ask quite open ended questions at times without saying exactly what your problem is. There are lots of ways to do this and lots of different reasons for doing. Perhaps if you give us your example we might be able to help you a little more.

    Anyway, start by reading the article and then come back with your more specific questions. </lecture>
